20111124-170126.jpg

Thanksgiving Dinner at my dad’s house is always a treat. My stepmother Martha Ruth not only prepares a delicious meal, but she also decorates the dining room and table to fit the occasion. All of the traditional southern Thanksgiving favorites: turkey and dressing with giblet gravy, carrots, green beans, broccoli casserole, a small portion of [...]

Creole and Seafood Shack – Auburn, AL

Another Auburn University home game means another fun visit to The Creole and Seafood Shack on HWY 14 W in Auburn. After a much closer homecoming victory than was expected, my great friends Crissy, Gina, and Mike decided they wanted to try dinner at The Shack. The place was PACKED, so obviously Chip and the [...]

The Creole and Seafood Shack – Auburn, AL

Just west of Auburn, AL on Hwy 14 is one of the best dining secrets in the East Alabama area. The Creole and Seafood Shack is a perfect option when visiting the “lovliest village on the plain.” Whether you’re in town on business or to catch the latest SEC West nailbiter, “The Shack” will not [...]

Houlihan’s – Columbus, GA (Doubletree location)

image

Houlihan’s can be seen as one of the more posh locations to eat in Columbus, and for good reason. For example, I order sweet tea to start, and receive the sweetened Tazo Black Tea. Good stuff. More than expected. We went to Houlihan’s for my wife’s birthday, and were not disappointed. The wife orders a [...]

I took my wife out for date night tonight, to start the year off right. We chose Ben’s Chophouse. We got an appetizer of collard greens, black eyed peas, and cornbread, a house salad with raspberry vinegarette, and then blackened jumbo shrimp and baked potato. It was awesome. Happy New Year, foodies!

Cafe Intermezzo – Atlanta GA Airport

image

This place is a cafe/bookstore, but oh so much more. Books, full size bar, great selection, window view of the airport, and the food… Oh the food. I started with a bowl of Jambalaya, but ate it so fast I forgot to get a shot. But this piece of cheesecake I had to stop and [...]

The Black Cow – Columbus, Ga

I know it sounds like I’m drinking the “Black Cow Kool-Aide” but almost everything here is fantastic! Tried the Lobster and Crab Tots and totally fell the ginger remoulade sauce! Elliott had the steak tournedos smothered in a dark brown veal sauce and I tried the meatloaf. Great rustic meal!

Cafe Le Rue – Columbus, Ga

First time visiting La Rue and I enjoyed it immensely. The shrimp wrap was warm and lightly covered with a unique blend of Cajun fire and classic tarter.  Add some Cajun fries and it was remarkable.  Whitney had the salad…and dessert.
