I don’t get by Mrs. Story’s much anymore, but it is always refreshing when I do. Having been eating there for the last 45 years, I always expect it to be changed or out of business, but it’s always still around with the same great tasting footlong chili dogs, delicious milkshakes, or scrumptious sundaes. If [...]

A new one for me. I really like barbecue, but I rarely eat it. Tried a new place while visiting a relative in Birmingham. Moe’s Original Bar B Que really impressed me. Everything tasted homemade. From the barbecue, turnip greens, and cornbread to the banana pudding. This chain started in Aspen and is still relatively [...]

Tried a new place in Panama City Beach this trip. My mother suggested J. Michael’s Seafood & Oyster Bar right across the street from Captain Anderson’s, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The oysters were the coldest I had ever had, and the seafood gumbo was absolutely delicious. It was the perfect choice on a chilly [...]

I was introduced to zuppa toscana for the first time at All in la Famille. The chef did an excellent job in preparation and presentation, and the end result was delicious. I’ll definitely become a regular at this new Columbus eatery.

It’s never too late for a ham and cheese omelette with bell pepper and onions. Top it off with some fresh fruit and toast and you’ve got a perfect late night breakfast.

Nothing tops off a night of holiday revelry like a delicious omelette from La Maison Enfin. Servicing the Morningside region of Columbus for the last 11 years, La Maison Enfin offers delicious breakfasts and a considerate chef. IHOP certainly has no need for concern, but LME will definitely do in a pinch. The ham and [...]

IHOP is always the perfect destination for Saturday morning breakfast. The Bacon Temptation omelette is a delicious choice especially when you had the hash browns and coffee.

Thanksgiving Dinner at my dad’s house is always a treat. My stepmother Martha Ruth not only prepares a delicious meal, but she also decorates the dining room and table to fit the occasion. All of the traditional southern Thanksgiving favorites: turkey and dressing with giblet gravy, carrots, green beans, broccoli casserole, a small portion of [...]

Sometimes cooking breakfast in a motorhome can be a little more time and effort than you want on a day with an early kickoff at the stadium. On those occasions you may want to head over to the Creole and Seafood Shack on Hwy 14 West in Auburn, AL. The buffet line included some breakfast [...]

Another Auburn University home game means another fun visit to The Creole and Seafood Shack on HWY 14 W in Auburn. After a much closer homecoming victory than was expected, my great friends Crissy, Gina, and Mike decided they wanted to try dinner at The Shack. The place was PACKED, so obviously Chip and the [...]

Normally reserved for weekends with the children, pancakes are an especially nice treat on a Friday morning. Add in some cheese grits, bacon, and coffee and you have the perfect morning meal.

Weekend breakfast on a Thursday? Unfortunately, due to the tornado that roared through Hamilton and an unplanned school closing, a rare full breakfast was made possible on a Thursday morning. A breakfast consisting of two scrambled eggs, grits, bacon, and toast is a rare but welcomed treat for a furloughed school teacher. Top it off [...]

I always like to visit Jason’s Deli. For some reason, I only get by there every three or four months, but I always enjoy the food. While they have one of the best salad bars in town, today I choose the soup and sandwich dinner. The Rueben sandwich complimented with the seafood gumbo is the [...]

A new seafood place on Veterans Parkway, The Big Catch is really catching on in Columbus. The fried shrimp basket with the jalapeƱo may be the best I’ve had in the area.

Always a good spot to catch a game, The Pickle Barrel Cafe & Sports Pub will surprise you with some delicious sandwiches. My favorite is the Rueben made with corn beef and sauerkraut.

It wouldn’t be Sunday morning without a good home-cooked breakfast from La Maison Enfin. Two fried eggs, sunny side up, cheese grits, and bacon make for the perfect day starter.

It’s always a treat to eat dinner at The Banana Farm. The turkey breast with rice and gravy, dressing, lima beans, sweet potatoes were definitely worth the trip. Throw in a good movie after a really fun afternoon, and you’ve got all the makings for a perfect Sunday.

Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar has recently become one of my favorite destinations. With one of my best friends in graduate school two nights/ week, the Gentian Boulevard location has become our regular spots for an early dinner before her class. With half-priced appetizers between 4-6 and again between 9-12, it’s hard to beat the [...]
