This place was featured in “No Reservations”, hosted by Anthony Bourdin. He hyped it up as a place to eat “guts”. I’ve been meaning to come to this place for a while. But thanks to a fellow foodie’s support, I had the guts to do so.
Their menu.
Beverage menu.
House-marinated olives. Fresh, salty, and pits included!
Can you guess what this is? Hint: Fat, pure fat! To be exact, it’s called “lardo” from acorn-fed pigs from Spain. Wow. Very rich! Interestingly, it is served with pears. The pears sweetness does mellow down the lardo’s flavor and after-taste.
Nice bread selection!
To keep up the pig theme, I ordered their “Pork tronchetto, Buddha’s hand citron salsa and arugula”, which is a fancy way of saying “braised pork belly”! This is also amazing. It had a nice crust of burnt fat, which reminds of the suckling roast pig you could get in Chinese restaurants. The veggies are fresh also, but I find the citron salsa was a bit too sour for my taste.
To finish off the night, the waiter suggested a dessert not included in the dessert menu. Unfortunately, I don’t remember what the name is, but it’s fancy rice pudding. All I can say, it’s the best rice pudding I ever had!
Although I expected more “guts” dishes, overall, this was a great experience. Good waiter, nice atmosphere, and of course delicious food! Check them out here: http://incanto.biz/
