If you’re a Son of a Son of a Sailor, then you must visit Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville in Pier Park. The house band plays the favorites from the 70s and 80s with a focus on the owner’s repertoire. And whatever you do, don’t forget to browse the gift shop; this place may sell more t-shirts than cheeseburgers.
The Cheeseburger in Paradise comes just exactly as the song describes: lettuce and tomato, Heinz 57 and french fried potatoes, a big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer. What else could you ask for?
When you’re not busy eating or listening to the house band look up at the 3/4 scale model of Buffett’s own plane the Margaritaville Imported. Jamaican officials accidentally fired on the plane thinking it was a drug-runner at one time.
One of the best dishes on the menu is the crab cakes. I had mine with the potatoes and steamed veggies, and I wasn’t disappointed.
If you’re in PCB and you’re near Pier Park, make sure to try out Margaritaville. Get there early! Sometimes the wait can be an hour and a half during Spring Break and the summer tourist season.
